Shawn's Pianos

I'm back in Florida but it is going to take a day or two for me to get fresh photos from Naples.
So, why don't you visit my Hartford friend Shawn's studio instead?

Shawn buys, sells, repairs and refurbishes fine pianos.  I like visiting his showroom and workrooms to see which beauties are there.  But, it is frustratingly difficult to photograph them.
They are packed so closely together.

This old Steinway grand piano was in a featured spot.
It has wonderful hand-carved and gilded details.

The hand carved details are just one of the pleasures of a fine piano. Really quite lovely.

That last one is amazing. I don't think I've ever seen such an elaborate piano before.
My new place is great and it's going to be even better when I get all the boxes out of the way.

I love seeing the inside of the piano and what a great idea for shots!! Such wonderful detail and particularly on the last one! Works of art indeed! Have a great new week, Jack!!

Good to see there are still artisans still around who put TLC into these babies. Intricate designs on this 'featured' number.

I admire pianos but their sound alone drives me up the wall. I love a piano concerto but not a sonata...

I can send you a pic of Naples, Idaho if you like.

What beautiful details! There is a piano shop here and sometimes they do midday concerts.

Lovely reflections caught in the high polish of those beautiful instruments. I can't play the piano but that doesn't stop me coveting a baby grand.

Beautiful details, Jack. I was looking at a well renowned grand here a few days ago. I'll have to photograph it sometime.

I can't say that I've spent much time in a piano showroom. You have plenty of time to catch up with O & H. They usually hang out until early April. And...yes...we've been getting a lot of rain! It finally stopped just within the past week or so. I think we set an October record for rainfall within the first week. Glad you're back safe and sound!

It looks like Shawn does good work - that kind of craftsmanship is becoming evermore rare.
I had trouble photographing pianos at the Music Museum in Phoenix a couple of years ago. Their size and scale don't seem to cooperate.

They are nice! My two oldest grandkids play piano and they would have a field day in there.

I'm happy to. These are terrific, pictures that have sound. The first one plays a very large chord.
